The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Communications and Media Commission, Dr. Balasem Salem, chaired a specialized cybersecurity conference organized by a specialized international company in Basra Governorate on Monday, September 15, 2025. The conference was attended by council members Mahmoud Al-Rubaie and Aws Al-Awadi, reflecting the commission's commitment to deepening its partnerships with major international companies and expanding cooperation in this vital field. During his speech at the conference, Dr. Balasem Salem emphasized that the Authority, since its establishment, has attached strategic importance to developing the communications and information technology sectors by creating an ideal investment environment that contributes to achieving the desired digital transformation.He explained that the Authority is proceeding with the preparation of an advanced regulatory system, including regulations for companies operating in the field of cybersecurity, in addition to enhancing community awareness of the importance of these vital fields. The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners pointed out that the cyber escalation witnessed in the Arab region, with the increasing frequency and complexity of attacks, necessitates strengthening institutional cooperation and national integration to protect Iraq's digital space. He also called for the use of artificial intelligence technologies in the service of cybersecurity, emphasizing that this field is no longer merely a technical issue.Rather, it has become a fundamental pillar of digital sovereignty and a foundation for economic and social stability. Dr. Salem concluded his speech by emphasizing the importance of strengthening the Authority's partnership with public and private sector institutions to enhance joint efforts in the field of cybersecurity through training programs, the exchange of expertise and information, and coordination of responses to cyber incidents, in addition to supporting emerging companies and encouraging innovation in this vital sector.

The Prime Minister announces investment opportunities amounting to (450) billion dollars in various sectors
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani is sponsoring the two-day Iraq Investment Forum in Baghdad, which will showcase more than 160 promising investment opportunities across various sectors. In his speech, Al-Sudani welcomed the participants in the forum and their presence in Baghdad, in light of the development and reconstruction that Iraq is witnessing. He also announced investment opportunities amounting to (450) billion dollars in various sectors, expressing his thanks to those in charge of this forum, foremost among them the National Investment Commission, the Iraqi Economic Council, and all the supporting and participating parties. Al-Sudani affirmed the government's intention to amend the Joint Stock Companies Law and the Holding Companies Law, adding provisions to support small and medium-sized enterprises and private funds, in addition to increasing the pace of digitizing government procedures to reduce bureaucracy, completing banking reforms, and raising Iraq's credit rating to reduce interest rates and insurance on projects undertaken in Iraq.

An expanded international conference in New York on ending Al-Hawl camp
The largest international conference on ending Al-Hawl camp was held in New York and urged countries to withdraw their nationals from the camp in preparation for its closure. 180 countries, 25 international organizations, 11 international organizations, and 8 civil society organizations participated in the expanded conference. Iraq was represented at the conference by a high-level Iraqi government delegation, headed by the President of the Republic and membership Minister of Foreign Affairs And National Security Advisor And the Minister of Immigration And the Supreme Judicial Council And the Prime Minister's Office And the heads of international and governmental technical groups working in the Al-Hawl camp file to restore Iraqi families from northeastern Syria to Iraq. Holding the conference represents the first event of its kind in the world regarding the Al-Hawl camp file and the implementation of the Iraqi government’s decision to dismantle the camp and end its existence. The conference also strengthens Iraq’s international standing and confirms the international community’s continued support for Iraq. The conference addresses three important topics: informing the world of the threat that Al-Hawl camp represents to international peace and security, highlighting Iraq’s successful experience in repatriating its families from the camp, and urging the remaining countries to withdraw their nationals from the camp, in preparation for closing it and ending its existence.

The Chairman of the Communications and Media Commission, Dr. Nawfal Abu Ragheef, chaired an expanded meeting at the commission's headquarters in Baghdad, which included the directors of the commission's offices and branches in the governorates and a number of officials from the central departments. The meeting was part of periodic meetings aimed at evaluating performance and enhancing organizational and field readiness. The meeting featured a detailed presentation of the offices' most prominent activities and events over the past period, along with an analysis of oversight and administrative performance indicators. The goal was to identify strengths, diagnose challenges, and adopt a development plan that takes into account the specificities of each governorate and its sectoral activities. The meeting addressed a number of environmental and administrative obstacles facing the offices in the governorates. Practical implementation proposals were presented, with instructions to double the mechanisms for empowering offices and branches with flexible powers to enable them to respond quickly to emergency situations. Dr. Abu Raghif emphasized the need to standardize administrative procedures by adopting a comprehensive procedural guide, ensuring consistency in internal policies and unifying mechanisms for implementing tasks in accordance with the powers granted. The Authority's Chairman also emphasized the commitment to submitting periodic reports according to a standardized format and documenting daily activities electronically within the institutional archiving system, to enhance transparency and expedite administrative responses based on tasks and responsibilities.
