
Kirkuk Operations Command: Foils an attempt to launch Katyusha rockets

A joint force from the 11th Infantry Division, affiliated with the Kirkuk Operations Command, successfully thwarted an attempt to launch Katyusha rockets today, Sunday, March 29, 2026. The force seized a launch platform consisting of two launch rails and four rockets that were prepared for immediate firing.
This high-quality operation was carried out based on precise intelligence indicating the presence of the launch platform and rockets in the (1st of June area – near the railway track), within the sector of responsibility of the 11th Infantry Division headquarters and near a Kirkuk Police Command checkpoint.
Immediately, a joint force moved to the location, surrounded it, and took full control, successfully preventing the rocket launch. The platform and all materials on site were confiscated, with no human casualties or material damage reported.
Kirkuk Operations Command confirmed that this operation is part of the ongoing efforts of the Iraqi Army heroes to pursue terrorist elements and thwart their sabotage plans, reaffirming the high level of readiness and constant vigilance of our security forces in maintaining the safety and stability of citizens.

The Iraqi Council of Ministers: Grants players and members of the coaching and administrative staff diplomatic passports.
In recognition of the historic achievement accomplished by the national team by qualifying for the 2026 World Cup finals, the Council of Ministers has decided to honor the national team players, as well as the coaching and administrative staff, and to adopt a package of measures to be submitted for approval at the next Cabinet session. These measures include: 1. Granting players and members of the coaching and administrative staff specially designed housing units that reflect this football achievement, in Al-Rafail Complex near Baghdad International Airport. Procedures will begin tomorrow. 2. Granting players and members of the coaching and administrative staff diplomatic passports. 3. Issuing a postage stamp to commemorate this achievement in the national memory. 4. Establishing a national mural (panorama) or memorial monument to commemorate the team’s qualification on Abu Nawas Corniche, including the names of the players and the date of the achievement. 5. Naming a main street in the capital, Baghdad, as well as in all provinces, “Lions of Mesopotamia Street.” 6. Establishing a museum or a special pavilion for this achievement at the headquarters of the Iraqi Football Association and the Sports City, with a section in the Government Palace Museum, documenting the players’ names, jerseys, and qualification photos. 7. Naming this year’s graduation cycles in all public and private universities and colleges as the “Lions of Mesopotamia دورة (Class).” 8. Producing a special national song, with the participation of a group of artists, with a title that reflects the achievement.

The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announces that a foreign journalist has been kidnapped by unknown individuals
The Ministry of Interior announced today that a foreign journalist was kidnapped this evening by unknown individuals. Specialized security forces immediately began carrying out their duties to pursue the perpetrators, based on precise intelligence information, intensive field efforts, and tracking the kidnappers’ movements. Follow-up and pursuit operations led to the encirclement of a vehicle belonging to the kidnappers, which overturned as they attempted to flee. Security forces succeeded in arresting one suspect and seizing one of the vehicles used in the crime. The Ministry confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining individuals involved, rescue the kidnapped journalist, and take the necessary legal measures against all those who participated in this criminal act, in accordance with the law.
